Who We Are Looking For

Boughton Law is currently recruiting for a Legal Administrative Assistant with experience in Wills & Estates. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a variety of administrative, clerical, specialty assistance and  legal support to assigned lawyers in the Wills & Estates / Corporate Commercial practice area.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare correspondence, faxes, documents, etc. using Digital Dictaphone, email instructions, copy typing and handwritten notes: using application software (Word & Outlook)
  • Draft documents for various types of applications for estate grants
  • Initial drafting of wills
  • Prepare power of attorney documents, living wills and representation agreements
  • Communicate with various external bodies including beneficiaries, financial institutions, governmental authorities, Public Guardian and Trustee’s office etc.
  • Conduct searches including corporate, land title and personal property registry administrative tasks
  • Conduct conflict searches, open files, create physical files  and maintain filing system
  • Manage incoming calls and emails
  • Maintain bring forward system  to ensure follow up and receipt of requested materials/documents.
  • Post time sheets (using Acumin accounting software)
  • Prepare invoices to clients (using Acumin accounting software)
  • Perform other related duties as required


  • Graduate of Legal Administrative Assistant Program
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Legal Administrative Assistant  with working experience in Wills & Estates
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications
  • Excellent English oral and written skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Good understanding of WESA
  • Able to draft standard correspondence with minimum supervision
  • Able to assist clients with administration of an Estate
  • Knowledge of procedures after Estate Grant issued
  • Familiarity with Trust Agreements and Committeeship applications is considered an asset
  • Able to take initiative and use good judgment.
  • Able to communicate with clients, lawyers and staff
  • Familiar with billing/invoicing processes in a legal environment
